Blue Ridge Mountain Wedding in North Carolina | Jess + Kristian

Intimate Blue Ridge Mountain Wedding outside of Asheville, North Carolina

Blue Ridge Mountain weddings in the fall in North Carolina. I could photograph these forever. There’s something about that crisp fall mountain air, surrounded by a blend of orange, yellow, and red leaves. Some of my fondest memories as a child are taking trips to the North Carolina mountains with my mom in the fall to watch the colors change. Being there always feels so magical and nostalgic.

Jess and Kristian planned a beautiful intimate wedding at the SkyRidge Yurts in the Blue Ridge Mountains, right outside of Asheville, North Carolina. With amazing views of the mountains right from their ceremony spot, they decorated the area with pampas, lots of greenery, rugs, and a few personal touches. Jess is an artist, so she handmade much of their decor- including paintings to depict scenes of their wedding, signs for the ceremony and cocktail hour area, handmade pottery from her small business Jess Day Clays for the wedding guests to bring home, and even gifts for her bridesmaids.

SkyRidge Yurts is the perfect place for an intimate mountaintop wedding. With multiple yurts and houses on property available for you and your wedding guests to stay in, and endless views of the Smoky Mountain range of the Blue Ridge Mountains, you can’t go wrong with this beautiful venue. The main house even has giant windows making for the perfect amount of light and perfect views for your getting ready location.

They started off their wedding day together by having a quiet time right on the deck of their ceremony spot. They made tea, soaked in all the love between one another, burned sage to set their intentions, and just sat in silence for a moment listening to the stillness of the mountains surrounding them. This was such an honor to photograph, and you could really feel the love radiating from them. It was incredible.

Their entire day as it went on was such an honor to witness, and was so full of love between every wedding guest, bridesmaid, and groomsman. It was so full of emotion- between the first looks with Jess’ dad and son Noah, Kristian trying to hold back tears as his bride walked down the aisle, and Noah tearing up at the ceremony because he was so happy for his mom and new stepdad.

Jess and Kristian made sure to incorporate things that are important to their relationship into their wedding day. During their ceremony, they planted an acorn seed together that they had been growing throughout their relationship. They also used a record player that is important to them as a couple during their ceremony and reception, with a custom made record including the songs for the bride’s walk down the aisle, and their first dance.

Jess and Kristian’s day was beautiful, intimate, intentional, and the perfect fall mountaintop wedding. I’m so thankful that I had the honor of being there. And of course, it is always such an honor to witness the magic of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
